Therapy for Teens

Mental Health for Teens

Being a teenager is hard. Growth spurts, puberty, hormonal changes, increased demands from school and family, and navigating peer relationships- teens have a lot going on! Technology and social media adds another layer of complexity to this life stage, as teens are more connected than ever before but sometimes they lack the skills and experience to use social media in a healthy, balanced way. Research shows that underlying mental health concerns may intensify and become more detrimental in adolescence.

Early intervention is essential.

Mental Health Therapy is a great option that provides teens with a safe, supportive space to talk about their concerns, and to learn and develop healthy coping strategies to help them manage their mental health effectively. We know that teens have a strong need for privacy which is developmentally appropriate. Therapy gives teens a chance to speak with a safe adult who has specialized training in adolescent mental health, and who can offer them guidance, support and resources while keeping their information confidential. Therapists have to break confidentiality if there is a safety concern, but otherwise teens can rest assured that their privacy is protected.
