Rupa specializes in providing support to youth, adults, couples and families facing a variety of concerns. Rupa has advanced training in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Rupa's warm, compassionate approach provides clients with a safe, supportive environment to express their concerns, learn new skills, and process through their experience.

Rupa Ray is a Registered Social Worker (MSW RSW) with over five years of experience supporting clients with a variety of concerns including complex trauma/PTSD, domestic violence, family/parenting issues, depression, anxiety, grief, ADHD, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, and suicidal ideation. She is passionate about providing trauma informed care that is culturally sensitive and anti-oppressive in her approach.

Rupa offers mental health therapy to children (10+), youth, adults, seniors, couples and families.

Rupa is honoured to be an ally of the BIPOC, 2SLGBTQIAP and Indigenous communities.

Rupa's pronouns are she/her/hers.

Rupa offers mental health therapy sessions in-person and via telehealth.

She provides sessions in four languages: English, Bengali, Hindi and Urdu.

Experience

Rupa has extensive experience supporting some of Edmonton's most diverse and vulnerable communities, including recent immigrants, refugees and survivors of domestic violence. She worked as a family counsellor at Catholic Social Services and as a mental health therapist for Alberta Health Services (Recovery Alberta). Rupa uses an evidence-based, person-centred, and trauma informed approach with her clients. Rupa helps her clients to recognize their own strength and resilience while supporting them in reaching their goals. Rupa is passionate about helping individuals to reclaim self-reliance and self-compassion, as two important components of resilience.

About

Outside of work, Rupa enjoys reading, cooking, traveling and spending her time surrounded by family. She believes in giving back to her community and passing down cultural teaching by teaching classical Indian dance to children.
