Kayla Wengreniuk

Clinical Intern - BA MACP (IP) - Starting September 2026

Kayla is pursuing a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. Kayla has significant background experience in the mental health field, especially in the areas of grief and life transitions. Kayla's warm, compassionate personality helps her to connect deeply with her clients so they feel safe and supported.

Are you feeling overwhelmed by symptoms of stress, anxiety or depression caused by grief, relationship issues or life transitions affecting your daily life? If you're ready to make a change, I am here to help. Together, we will discuss your thoughts, feelings and experiences as we work toward your goals by exploring new perspectives, insights and strategies. My approach is trauma-informed and client centred, ensuring that you feel supported and empowered every step of the way.

I provide mental health therapy for individual youth (13+), adults, seniors, couples and families.

I am honoured to be an ally of the BIPOC, 2SLGBTQIAP, and Indigenous communities. My pronouns are she/her/hers.

I offer mental health therapy sessions in-person and via telehealth.

My sessions are offered at a reduced rate of $20-65/session based on a “pay what you can” model while completing my Clinical Internship under the supervision of Heather Andrew, MSW RCSW.

If you require sliding scale fees, please set up a free 15 minute phone consultation.

Experience

Before pursuing her masters degree in Counselling Psychology, Kayla accumulated front line experience supporting adults and families who were experiencing the impact of grief and loss through her work at Guardian Pet Cremation as she provided aftercare support to clients following the loss of their beloved companion animal. Kayla is known for her calm presence and compassionate approach.

Kayla has also gained experience supporting clients as they navigate complex systems and challenging life transitions through her work at Canada Border Services. In this role, she developed strong skills in the areas of emotional regulation, ethical decision making, communication and collaboration. Kayla is also familiar with supporting children, youth, adults and families with complex family dynamics through her work with the Elizabeth Fry society; monitoring and supporting emotionally charged interactions between incacerated individuals and their family members. This role honed Kayla's skills in the areas of assertiveness, empathy, time management and organization.

Kayla excels as a trauma informed therapist, using a strength based, relational approach in her work with all her clients. Drawing from her previous training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, and background knowledge of trauma-informed interventions, Kayla adapts each session to meet the unique needs and goals of the client. She believes in creating a safe, non-judgemental space where clients can feel respected and understood as they share their story. Using a strength based approach, she helps clients build on their existing strengths and resiliency as they process their experience, learn new skills and work toward their therapeutic goals.
